Pro Shop
The SJCA has a limited amount of equipment available for use by beginners and members who have not yet purchased their own equipment. For those who want to purchase their own equipment, we have provided some information below on how to go about it.
Whites
Croquet is traditionally played in whites. This is a requirement at The Reserve lawn but not at Players. Many members also choose to wear whites for tournaments and special events. Any white clothing is acceptable, but white golf shirts and white skirts, shorts, or slacks are often seen.
Mallets
The club has a number of mallets that are available for use by members. If you are interested in purchasing your own mallet, there are several manufacturers and retailers that you can consider. Before purchasing a mallet, it is a good idea to try several different types to see what feels best for you. Many of our members are happy to let you try their mallets.
Accessories
In addition to mallets and whites, there are several other accessories that you may find useful, such as croquet shoes, ball markers, and specialized clips. These can be found at many of the same retailers that sell mallets.

White Tie Croquet Store
White Tie Croquet focuses on white croquet clothing. Its collections emphasize women’s and men’s croquet wear, sun-protective tops, skorts, shorts, pants, vests, jackets, hats, and club-logo apparel, and can add the St. James Croquet Association bird logo to a range of clothing. The also offer PFC Hoopmaker mallets and some accessories.

National Croquet Center Pro Shop
The National Croquet Center Pro Shop is broader and more equipment-oriented, offering mallets, men’s and women’s wear, accessories, gift items, belts, and court equipment. Its mallet section includes several recognized makers.

Wood Mallets
Wood Mallets is a NZ-based manufacturer and exporter of hardwood mallets and many are in use in St. James. Periodically SJCA will aggregate a group of orders to save on shipping. Examples will be found in the equipment lockers at the courts.

Oakley Woods
Oakley Woods Croquet is an Ontario-based manufacturer and exporter of hardwood mallets and many are in use in St. James. Periodically Oakley will visit St. James to enable you to try them out on our lawns before purchase. Examples will also be found in the equipment lockers at the courts.
